The Sanctuaries: The Magical Places on the Journey

The Intergalactic Journey will take you to five sacred sanctuaries in Mexico: The sanctuary of Punta Cometa, in the beach of Mazunte, the sanctuary of the natural jacuzzis in Punta Cometa, in the sanctuary of the golfina turtles, in the beach of Escobilla, in the sanctuary of the Postema in the mountains of San Jose del Pacifico, and in the sanctuary of the Huichol in Wirikuta, in the desert of Real de Catorce.

The Sanctuary of Punta Cometa

The sanctuary of Punta Cometa in Mazunte is the first peninsula of North America.  From this place, one can view the sunrise and sunset over the sea.  Punta Cometa is a pre-Hispanic natural ceremonial center.  There is no construction in the sanctuary, which is surrounded on three of its sides by the Pacific Ocean.  This place contains a lot of energy and transforms this peninsula into a magical paradise.

The Sanctuary of The Natural Jacuzzis

In the rocky area of the western beach of Punta Cometa there are natural pools formed in the rock, called “natural Jacuzzis.” When the waves come to these pools, they fill with water, and when the water ebbs, the pools empty. And so, in this way, when you are in the pools you receive a massage from the water of the ocean for an interminable time. The minerals and salts that this water contains eliminates many muscular-skeletal problems, like arthritis, rheumatism, and excessive uric acid in the body. It takes away all kinds of skin infections, and completely kills the fungus that produces the bad body odor when you sweat. Our ancestors knew of the curative properties of these pools where they were accustomed to go in order to clean their quartzes. The quartz is a mineral that produces much energy, and our ancestors used it as for curative treatments. Washing the quartzes with water from these Jacuzzis, they made the energy that the quartz produces even more beneficial. Our ancestors used the quartz as an amulet for their protection; in order to provide luck in their lives and to help when they felt badly. But nobody
would be allowed to touch the quartz because it can fill it with negative energy.

The Sanctuary of The Golfina Turtles

The Sanctuary of the Golfina turtles can be found 20 km away from Punta Cometa. It is a beach in open sea, called Escobilla. This sanctuary is one of the four that exist in the world.  Every month, 10 days after the full moon, more than 365,000 turtles arrive to bury their eggs in three nights. This happens in Australia, in India, in Costa Rica, and at this sanctuary in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The Sanctuary of the Postema

This sanctuary can be found in the mountains of San Jose del Pacifico, in Oaxaca, Mexico. Another exists in Huataza de Jimenez, where the famous priestess Maria    Sabina lived. She cured people with hallucinogenic mushrooms like those of San Jose del Pacifico. The shamans cure with mushrooms almost all sicknesses in night ceremonies. The sick must eat mushrooms and have to vomit them from their stomach in a sign that the sickness finally has left the body of the patient. The well-known ritual is performed around a bonfire in the center of a room in a cabin constructed from wood. In this room, the sick pray with great respect and ask the Gods for the evil to leave them.

The Sanctuary of the Huichol

This sanctuary can be found in the desert of San Luis Potosi, in the north of Mexico, in a place called Real de Catorce. In this area, peyote abounds in the wild. The indigenous Taraumaras use the peyote for their celebrations, which consist in running day and night during three days.  In Wirikuta, peyote is eaten in a ceremony with a shaman in order to cleanse the body and the soul of negative energies and to journey within in a powerful transformation of consciousness.
